I got my first taste for drag racing at age 10, attending Ravenswood International Raceway with my step-father. Shortly after, I began as a pit crew for Greg Byrne & Wally Kleszcz' record setting funny car. I cleaned some parts and helped with parachutes and general "gopher" duties
After a few years away, while completing an apprenticeship as a carpenter in Carnarvon, I returned to Perth and saw fit to get back to the sport and what better time than the first ever event at the new Perth Motorplex in Kwinana. I attended the event with my friend, and future racing partner Kelvin Hill and immediately began plotting to build/buy a drag car. After a bit of a search in forums and putting a call out. His dream of racing career was under way!

The first car was an ex 5-time national championship dragster transported from Adelaide from John Handley. It was white with red and green stripes when we bought it but I had a liking for subaru blue...
We searched for an engine and with Kelvin being a die-hard Ford guy, naturally we looked for a Ford V8. After scouring the wreckers we came across a good 351 Cleveland motor, when we went down to pick it up, we almost tripped over a 460 Big Block so... we got that one instead!
We built that engine from scratch and being young, broke and silly we did a lot of things ourselves. We started with stock heads and bottom end but eventually, as the budget increased we invested in some more go-faster parts over time. We ran it on methanol, first through a carb then switched to a single butterfly injection
We raced that car together for about 9 years achieving a best time of 8.32secs at 163mph.

My first solely owned car was purchased from the US in 2011. After working on the mines and experiencing a really good currency exchange, I meticulously searched the internet for a good dragster. This was found after a few months and was purchased at a really good deal thanks to Bob Gagnon. The car arrived in Fremantle in December 2011 and was ready to start. It's first pass at the Perth Motorplex was in early 2012 and boy did it go! The first run was an 8.11secs at 165mph and the launch was phenomenal. It was a 240" hard-tail dragster with a 377cu small block chev on methanol and after a few seasons and some improvements my personal best time of 7.83secs at 169mph was achieved as well as winning a track championship in 2015.
Unfortunately in Dec 2018 the car got a bit loose at the finish line and ended up crashing, destroying the car and my hands resulting in multiple amputations.

Less than 12 months later, I bought my current car as a rolling chassis. It is a 2007 Spitzer 240" hard-tail. I also finished enclosing my trailer after building it myself.
I used the drivetrain out of the previous car and salvaged what I could from the wreck. Thankfully the engine and transmission were still good.
The engine is still based on a small block chev and has a 2 speed powerglide behind it. It puts out around 600hp on methanol.
There is still a bit to test with this car before returning to the 7sec times of old.
In 2021, I decided after 20 years racing in modified (a dial-your-own bracket) to step up into group 2 index racing which meant adding around 80kgs to the car. After a season in super comp I did a small bit of damage and decided to park the car for awhile until my businesses picked up and I bought a better engine combination.
